I started my journey over 20 years ago working in Europe looking after older persons with post traumatic trauma (from the war) who also had other issues including memory loss and "flashbacks" The employer I was working for did not believe in "traditional medicine" and used natural remedies combined with relaxation techniques, deep breathing, visualisation and calming music as therapies. I then realised that despite these people having this continuous 'mental pain and anguish' they could still have quality of life and were able to very easily visualise themselves in another place where they could be happy, pain free and could control their reactions to sudden and stressful situations. I thought this was a wonderful method of helping people to help themselves to decided to undertake formal training. I began training as a nurse in one of the large hospitals in England and since then have gone on to enhance my studies with a Masters Degree in Primary Health Care focussing on drug & alcohol addictions and mental health, I then completed another Masters Degree this time specifically in Mental Health Nursing, I am also qualified through the National Guild of Hypnotists (America) as a Clinical Hypnotherapist and have a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment to enable me to teach the necessary skills to people who wish to learn self-hypnosis. I have undertaken further training and can now offer counselling and professional supervision to students, colleagues and the corporate sector. My learning is never finished as most people in the medical profession will tell you there are always new skills and experiences to undergo. I aim to learn one new thing each day (and the challenge is to remember it at the end of the year!)
